Well I am learing guiter in about 3 weeks I got Mary had a little lamb, twinkle little star, rose for you,one Elvis perslie song but I dont know it name it also depends how comitte you are I have gurtair pratice once a week.
Its pretty easy to learn the basics of guitar, but its something you have to be fairly dedicated to get really good at. Another thing to remember is it will seem very difficult starting out, and your fingers will hurt in the beginning. As long as you practice often though you can get pretty good within a year. Another thing to consider is lessons, you can learn so much more from a good teacher in a month than you could on your own, and if you can afford them i definitely recommend them. Good luck!
It completely depends on how much you practice! How much you practice depends on how much you enjoy it. When I picked up the guitar, I was addicted right away, and I could play simple songs/chords confidently within 3-5 months. I know several other people who have been the same way.
The bottom line is, practice as much as you want to, if you love it, great! Play every spare second you have. Expect to make quick progress (even if it doesn’t feel like it at first!). If you like it, but aren’t obsessed, don’t expect to be shredding in 3 months, be realistic, and don’t set the bar to high if you’re not willing to work to get there.
As a general guideline though, assuming that you have at least a *somewhat* regular practice schedule, I would say that simple chords and strumming should take NO MORE than a year to master.

That depends on you – your ability, desire to learn, application/attitude to practice and opportunity to play. If you want to learn then you will.
its true but it really depends on how determined are you to learn………….wish i know how to play most of the chords :p
Andre Segovia ( google it) spent his whole life “learning” to play the guitar.
The key here is to start.
I did when I was about sixteen. I still learn every time I pick one up.
